Flare – first impressions

Posted by on 2011-03-10 in Reviews | 0 comments

If you’re like me and like playing around with your photos on your cell phone, you really need to take a look at Flare. One of the fun things with iPhone apps like Camera+, Hipstamatic, Picplz, Instagram is that you easily and quickly can manipulate the images adding frames, noice, texture, etc. For me this is quite fun and something I enjoy doing, but it has been a bit difficult to do on my Mac … until today. Enter Flare, this is an application that very much reminds me of applications like Picplz, Instagram and SwankoLab on the iPhone: You open an image in the application and...

Aperture export plugins – SmuginForAperture

Here is something completely new for those of you who are using SmugMug as your photo sharing site. You might be aware of the ApertureToSmugMug plugin and many like it but I have personally never liked it, for two reasons: I couldn’t get it to work properly and it listed all albums in one list (which makes it VERY difficult to find the correct album). Well, you can forget ApertureToSmugMug and learn a new name instead: SmuginForAperture. It is a brand new plugin that makes it really easy to export your images to SmugMug. The dialog that it presents is somewhat similar to...

Aperture export plugins – FlickrExport

If you’re using Aperture (or iPhoto) then you know that there is built-in support for exporting to Flickr … but in my opinion it’s a horrible implementation that doesn’t work the way I expect. Fortunately there is a much better alternative FlickrExport from ConnectedFlow. FlickrExport has been around for a long while and it’s a fairly mature product with a lot of features. After having selected FlickrExport in the export command you are presented with with a dialog box similar to this: This is where you control what gets sent to Flickr, by default FlickrExport...

My comments on the Luma Loop

I don’t really remember why I started to carry my SLRs like this but I’ve carried them like this since I was 14-15 years old. The main reason being that it’s really quick and easy to lift up the camera and take a picture, the second reason is that I really hate having a heavy camera around my neck. In fact I get real neck problems after 30 minutes or so because of the weight. But there are of course some serious drawbacks in carrying it your hand, for example if you’re walking in the forest you can’t really use your left hand in case you stumble (which can...

iPhone camera – pleasantly surprised

Posted by on 2009-08-25 in Reviews | 2 comments

I must say that I’m pleasantly surprised with the camera in the iPhone 3GS. Having had several cell phones with a camera I didn’t expect much, especially not after having played with the camera in the iPhone 3G. But I was wrong, I got my iPhone two days before leaving for the US so I didn’t have a chance to play around with it before standing on US soil. Neither did I have a computer with me so there was little chance to check the result on a large screen until I was back home. So when I finally got back home it was with very low expectations I downloaded the photos to my...

Expono

A few weeks ago I stumbled across a new, to me at least, photo sharing service called [Expono](http://www.expono.com/go/register?r=mqbmciyh). At first I was a bit skeptical since there are a fair number of photo sharing sites available, but after having played around a bit I’ve changed my mind. I use several different photo sites and they are all good at different things, for example [Flickr](http://flickr.com/) has a great community and there exists a huge number of applications that makes your “flickr life” easier, [Ipernity](http://ipernity.com) is service that is similar...
