iOS need a central photo sharing mechanism

Posted by on 2011-02-21 in Computers | 0 comments

I’m tried of adding my account info to various applications on my iPhone just so I can upload my photos. I’m tired to see how different applications are handling meta data – for example Camera+ lets you set all relevant info when sending info to flickr, Hipstamatic allows you to set title but not caption, sets, or tags. 100-cameras-in-1 doesn’t allow you to specify album when sending to Facebook, etc etc. I think that iOS needs a central photo sharing mechanism that handles each photo sharing site in the best possible way. I would also like to specify my account info...

I’m a long time user of the mail client Mailsmith and I’ve been very satisfied it. Sure it has it quirks and miss some minor features but all-in-all it’s the best email client for the Mac – at least for me. However, it has one big problem: it doesn’t do IMAP. This wasn’t a problem for me until two years ago. My main computer has for a long time been a laptop that I’ve used both at work and at home – in other words I never needed to access my email using different computer and thus a POP3 client like Mailsmith has worked just fine for me. But two...

Dijkstra and PL/1

Posted by on 2009-11-17 in Computers | 0 comments

I have to admit that I’ve never had the pleasure to use PL/1 but I’ve seen it and I can understand Dijkstras opinion: Finally, although the subject is not a pleasant one, I must mention PL/1, a programming language for which the defining documentation is of a frightening size and complexity. Using PL/1 must be like flying a piano with 7,000 buttons, switches. and handles to manipulate in the cockpit. I absolutely fail to see how we can keep our growing programs firmly within our intellectual grip when by its sheer baroqueness the programming language – our basic tool, mind...
